The January transfer window is typically a period of significant rumour and potential major moves. A number of prominent players are being linked with moves away from their current clubs. We examine a selection of the top names that are poised to be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, this has kept the forward in contention, reports suggest a major transfer is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker has a contract featuring a sizeable buy-out clause applicable for a two-week period at the start of the month. Latest reports indicate the Premier League champions are now the frontrunners for his services. Other interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to alternative options, leaving clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

This English centre-back has impress for Palace despite a previous transfer to Liverpool collapsing. As his contract set to expire in the close season, this represents the London club's last chance to obtain a fee for their captain. A host of top clubs, such as Manchester City and several continental powerhouses including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly be interested. However, a winter departure is considered unlikely, especially given the manager's dependence on the defender.

B. Johnson

The Welsh forward has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Tottenham this campaign. Furthermore, there are suggestions from Spanish media that he would be prepared to take a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

The veteran German shot-stopper finds himself as third-choice at Barcelona following new coach Flick. After lost his place and undergone an operation, a winter exit seems increasingly likely. With his existing deal running down, many English clubs – such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are keeping tabs on the developments. The Turin club are eager to secure the youngster to a lengthy agreement but are in a race to retain one of the continent's most promising young talents.

Kees Smit

The highly-touted Netherlands teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. After starring at the U19 Euros, Smit has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar side. This teenager is heavily expected to complete a major transfer in January.
