A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by police.
A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.
The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.
A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later discharged.
Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.
Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.
The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
